Galanos Kicks Off Annenberg Lecture Series

2008-2009 Annenberg Theater Speaker Series
The newly renamed Annenberg Theater Council (ATC) will present a series of lectures on fashion, the arts and the entertainment industry. All lectures will take place in the Annenberg Theater and the last 15 minutes of the lecture will be devoted to questions and answers.

ATC members: $15; Individual: $25

James Galanos and Booth Moore will discuss fashion, style and why Vanity Fair declared Galanos, “The most important American fashion designer of the 20th century.” Galanos’ clothes are admired for their cut and elegant fabrics. His reputation for exacting workmanship gained him the loyalty of many clients. He received the Coty Fashion Award in 1954 and 1956. Moore is a fashion critic as well as the editor of IMAGE, the weekend fashion section in the Los Angeles Times. She covers “fashion weeks” from New York to Paris. Her columns include tips on where to shop and how to pack, looking chic all the while. Large screen visuals for this lecture will be provided by Jay Jorgensen.

HEATHER JAMES FINE ART ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL EXHIBITION IN NEW SPACE NOVEMBER 29, 2008

Heather James Fine Art is pleased to announce its Inaugural Exhibition in a new 8,500 square foot gallery on Saturday, November 29, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. The public is invited to attend. 

The multi-layered show will introduce the community to the new gallery’s directions with a number of mini-exhibitions. The main gallery will feature contemporary art icons Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, surrounded in adjacent galleries by cutting-edge emerging artists like Timothy Tompkins, Peter Gerakaris, Samuel T. Adams and Kaoru Mansour. Smaller, more intimate spaces will feature early twentieth-century modern masters such as Picasso and Matisse and Impressionist painters such as Monet and Renoir.

Heather James Fine Art is located at 45-188 Portola Avenue in Palm Desert and will feature a wide array of art ranging from Impressionist and Modern art to Post-War and Contemporary, American, Latin American, Old Master, Photography and Design. The new Fine Art gallery is an expansion and evolution of the current Heather James Art & Antiquities, which continues to operate in the El Paseo location and provide clients with the finest in cultural antiquities and ethnographic art from all corners of the world.
